  • Mobiles account for 21.3% of all electric car jobs in 2026
  • 7.6% of ICE car jobs managed by mobiles in 2026
  • Franchised and independent dealers, national service providers and OEMs join Fleet Assist network

Fleet Assist has continued to grow its network of mobile service units with more than 300 added in the first six months of the year to take its total to 900 vehicles/technicians.

Currently the network team at Fleet Assist is forecasting that its fleet of mobile units could exceed 1,200 by the end of 2026, to keep pace with the significant increase in demand from its leasing, rental and salary sacrifice customers.

This is in addition to the managed network of 9,300 service points which Fleet Assist runs to manage its customer fleet of more than 1.5m vehicles.

Fleet Assist is carefully vetting and selecting new mobile partners to allow for the expansion with franchised and independent dealers, national service providers and even OEMs joining its network.

The fewer working parts in an EV has certainly helped accelerate the viability of mobile service units in recent years with Fleet Assist’s electric car jobs rising from 0.3% in 2022 to 21.3% in 2026, while eLCVs rose from 2.3% to 7.5% in the same period.

The convenience of SMR work has also seen more Fleet Assist ICE jobs being conducted at a driver’s home or workplace car park with the volume rising from 0.2% in 2022 to 7.6% in 2026 for cars and from 0% to 1.2% for LCVs.

“The popularity and viability of mobile servicing within our customer base has been helped by the growth of EVs which typically have fewer parts and take less time to service than ICE vehicles. More customer work direction policies are advising that their driver’s SMR needs can be managed by a mobile service unit which is why we are continuing to expand our fleet,” explained Nikos Kotrozos, Fleet Assist’s supply chain director.

“Obviously the bigger more complex SMR jobs or where the vehicle is not at a suitable location will be sent to a garage, but such is the demand that many garages are investing in putting their own mobile service vehicles on the road to expand their aftersales businesses,” he added.

Fleet Assist is helping garages put their own mobile unit on the road by providing guidance as to the specification required and supporting supply of a fully designed and equipped service van that is ‘ready to work.’ The vehicle is based on its in-depth knowledge of what a mobile technician needs to manage a driver’s SMR needs right down to the size of vehicle and individual equipment items. It has also launched a competitive finance package to further support garages to get a mobile service unit on the road to broaden their SMR offering.
