Wessex Fleet is the first leasing and rental company to onboard Fleet Assist’s new high value technical authorisation service.
Wessex has rolled the new service in partnership with its operations and maintenance teams and Fleet Assist’s technical team.
High value SMR jobs quoted for major vehicle repairs are manually referred to the Fleet Assist team who analyse the quote, the suggested repair method and labour time to ensure they are all within scope.
“When we need additional support with highly technical assistance or downtime management, we call upon the Fleet Assist team. We value their opinion and expertise as a sounding board for an educated opinion to support or challenge a position,” explained Wessex Fleet’s director Simon Naylor.
Fleet Assist downtime manages vehicles to ensure they get back on the road as quickly and efficiently as possible, whilst keeping within budget and timeline parameters.
Wessex Fleet manages the majority of its service bookings in-house with access to the Fleet Assist network of over 5,200 garages and over 500 mobile service vehicles. At times of peak workload or while Wessex team members are on holiday the Fleet Assist service team will manage service and MOT bookings on their behalf.
To coincide with rolling out the new service Wessex Fleet has extended Fleet Assist’s SMR contract until late 2028.
“Our operations and maintenance team has an excellent relationship with the Fleet Assist team, and they work together to efficiently manage the higher value SMR jobs as well as supporting with service bookings at peak times,” said Naylor
“Each of our SMR jobs has the strong foundation of Fleet Assist’s garage network behind it which provides consistency of costs and quality of workmanship which is vital when you run a varied vehicle fleet like ours,” he added.
“Our team’s technical skill set is supported by recognised industry reference data, regular training and insights from industry forums, to ensure we are up to date with the latest vehicles and technology,” explained Garry Winckley, Fleet Assist’s business development director.
“We are well placed to support Wessex with the efficient running of its service bookings and maintenance authorisation processes,” he added.
